Greystone Will Lead Strategic Planning Zone at PEAK Summit

LeadingAge’s PEAK Leadership Summit is an event that caters to senior living executives and agenda-setters. This Summit is a place where non-profit leaders can talk strategy, address industry challenges and share ideas about seizing future opportunities.

During the BaseCamp portion of PEAK, Greystone will serve as the leader of Zone 3: Strategic Planning and Partnerships. This Zone will feature video interviews with non-profit senior living CEOs who share their thoughts on a wide range of issues that are relevant and urgent today. After each video segment, Greystone team members will facilitate a discussion among attendees as we share ideas and best practices for moving organizations forward and growing their missions.

Here’s a look at our agenda for the 2017 LeadingAge PEAK Leadership Summit, taking place March 19–22 in Washington, DC:


Monday, March 20

10 a.m. — Making Your Mission Come Alive: Your organization’s mission should make your communities distinct and uniquely attractive in their markets. Non-profit providers have traditionally promised to deliver social, spiritual and physical security and peace of mind to residents and their families. When those promises are fulfilled, missions catch fire and allow for growth. Are your communities in a position to deliver on their mission-based promises?

10:45 a.m. — The Non-Profit Advantage: People want to be associated with organizations that create meaning. That goes for your residents and their families, as well as your staff and employees. As a non-profit provider, you have a tremendous story to tell, but getting all members of your organization to consistently and effectively communicate that story is incredibly challenging. Are you sharing your story in a way that articulates the benefits and advantages of choosing a non-profit provider?

11:30 a.m. — Growth: Your Defined Strategic Target: Why grow with a laser-focus on your organization’s mission-driven objectives? Because growth delivers more opportunities to your organization and the people it employees. Because growth helps protect your market from competition. And because growth gives you the scale needed to maximize your impact on senior lives. If non-profits choose to pass on today’s growth opportunities, they are choosing to cede that opportunity to other providers. What’s your plan for growth?

12:15 p.m. — Leadership: Driving Your Team to a Common Goal: Non-profit senior living teams are full of smart people who see their work as a true calling. Our industry needs sacrificial leaders who are willing and able to harness this intelligent and motivated workforce in moving our industry forward. Today’s effective senior living leaders are creating and sharing mission-based visions, acquiring the talent needed to achieve those visions, and promoting the idea that all team members have a voice — and that the best idea, answer or solution always wins the day. Are your people empowered to move your organization forward?


Tuesday, March 21

10 a.m. — Competition: Thriving in Your Markets: The influx of for-profit senior living providers in markets across the country is unmistakable. Not only are these for-profit providers competing for non-profit market share, they are also competing for non-profit messaging — consumers are having an increasingly difficult time differentiating between non-profit and for-profit providers. How will your organization stand out in the markets it serves?

10:45 a.m. — Mission AND Margin: Non-profit senior living communities are simultaneously businesses and missions. Rather than competing, these two roles work best in tandem. That is, it’s mission and margin rather than mission versus margin. The stronger a business model and the stronger an organization’s bottom line, the greater the impact that organization can make through execution and expansion of its mission. Are you strengthening your organization’s mission through stronger margin?

11:30 a.m. — Workforce and Talent Development: The future of senior living rests in the hands of all of us — the types of leaders who gather for PEAK. If you could wave a magic wand and create any type of future you want for your organization and the senior living industry at large, what type of future would you create?

Another summer, another Greystone Event that included education sessions, networking and a chance for attendees to mingle with other senior living professionals from around the country. Video: Scenes From the LeadingAge Gathering in Boston

Few cities can match Boston as an appropriate venue for the LeadingAge Annual Meeting & Expo. Boston is a place of new ideas and learning — a place where people challenge themselves.

And at the 2015 Annual Meeting, there were new ideas shared by industry leaders, mutual learning among peers, and senior living professionals challenging themselves to find innovative ways to approach non-profit missions.

At Greystone, we were honored to take part in this gathering. In hopes of continuing the dialogue started in Boston, we announced an upcoming series of white papers titled, “The CCRC Evolution.”
